Is the Honda Pastport a real thing?
One of the longest-running tropes on the internet is a healthy dose of tomfoolery on April 1. Since today is April 1, the Meridian Honda Blog thought it would be helpful to clear a few things up. Is the Honda Pastport a real thing? While it would be a bold move for an automaker to release a vehicle with super retro features, the Honda Pastport is not real. Honda is having a little fun with the recent resurgence in 90s nostalgia on April Fools’ Day 2019. The product experts at Meridian Honda thought they could get in on the fun by profiling the Pastport. If nothing else, it brought a lot of us back to our childhoods which was also a fun little trip down memory lane. You can learn more about the actual 2019 Honda Passport when you visit Meridian Honda.

There have been a few automakers having a little fun with their customers on April Fools’ Day, but Honda really took it to a new level. While all of the materials the manufacturer produced are quite clearly tongue-in-cheek, they sure did make it sound like the Honda Pastport was going to show up at showrooms around the country.
It would have been easy to mock-up some photos, but Honda the time to produce a TV commercial that looks like it would be at home during any of our favorite TV shows from the 90s.
The commercial is narrated by Fred Savage, who is not only the official voice of Honda commercials but a 90s icon in his own right. Savage points out all of the elements that make this “special edition” of the new Honda Passport so appropriate for the 90s. Some of the highlights include:
• Cassette player
• Holder for a pager
• Digital clock
If you decide to watch the video, you’ll notice it plays in an aspect ratio that is period correct to the 1990s. It also has graphics that also appear to be fitting for the decade. For the best possible experience, you can call 1-833-PASTPORT to hear Savage encourage people to leave a message. We know there are too many numbers, but it does work. We called it.
You can see the 2019 Honda Passport at Meridian Honda today. Give our showroom a call today if you’d like to schedule a test drive.
