Easy ways to get stickers off your car

The school season is here and for many people that means new parking stickers for their car, truck or SUV. The good news is car stickers can be removed and it doesn’t have to be a hassle. Whether you have stickers on your windshield or on the body of the vehicle, these tips will help you get those pesky things off fast.

How to remove bumper stickers

Perhaps the biggest concern in removing stickers on the body of your car is ruining the paint underneath. Your secret weapon and greatest ally in this battle against this stubborn bumper sticker? WD-40. Spray the sticker and let the chemical sit for a good 5-10 minutes. Then use the edge of a credit card to peel the sticker off. If the residue on the sticker continues to give you gruff as you are peeling, spray some extra WD-40 in there to help cut at the adhesive.

You can also use some WD-40 to remove stickers from your windshield. Other great products to try are Goo-Gone, nail polish remover or a hair dryer. We recommend letting a product sit on the sticker for a little while so the product has time to weaken the adhesive. Heat from a hair dryer or heat gun are other good ways to weaken the adhesive on the sticker enough to be able to lift it from the glass.

Once you have worked away at the glue of the sticker, use a credit card, dull putty knife or even a butter knife to slowly lift an edge of the sticker so you can pull the paper off the rest of the way. Just be sure to keep the edge of the blade flat to avoid scratching the glass of your window.
