What happens if I accidentally fill my car with diesel?
As we’ve covered in a previous Meridian Honda post, the kind of fuel you put in your vehicle can make a difference in some models. But if you’re also wondering, ‘What happens if I accidentally fill my car with diesel,’ our team of product experts thought some additional information would help. To be sure, a vehicle that uses a gasoline engine cannot use diesel as fuel and the same is true in the reverse. This is because a gas engine and a diesel engine ignite the fuels using two different methods based on each liquids’ chemical properties. As of right now, Honda doesn’t build any consumer vehicles that use a diesel engine. In the grand scheme of things, it really wasn’t all that long ago when a Meridian Honda customer had to choose between engaging performance and fuel economy. The 2018 Accord took an entirely new approach to performance with the availability of three advanced new powertrains—two turbocharged 4-cylinder engines and the third generation of Honda’s two-motor hybrid powertrain technology. Honda’s newly developed 10-speed automatic transmission (10AT)—the first of it’s kind for a front-wheel-drive car—is mated to the new 2.0L engine.
